Funding opportunities

General principles

The Consumer Lab impact account will fund projects that aim to improve the ‘ecological validity’ of academic research by studying real-world food choices as set out in our vision.

The Consumer Lab Impact Account will fund three types of award to address this challenge:

Flexible mobility awards

To support the mobility of people such as technicians, early career researchers and industrialist researchers to new environments to develop new skills and understanding of different practices.

Business interaction vouchers

To initiate, develop and enhance collaboration between academics and industrialists within diet, health and nutrition.

Feasibility awards

Aimed at promoting more established partnerships that can leverage matched funding (cash or in-kind) from industry that are further down the translation pathway.

General application process and timeline

  • For Flexible Mobility Awards, applications can be submitted at any time and will be reviewed every two months. See ‘Flexible Mobility Award – Application Guidance’ .
  • For Business Interaction Vouchers (BIVs) and Feasibility Awards only, Consumer Lab follows a two-stage application process:
  • Stage 1: All prospective applicants should first submit an ‘Expression of Interest form’ (EOI), available for download from the BIVs and Feasibility Award pages when calls are open. This will be reviewed by members of our Impact Account Panel. Following submission of the EOI, all applications will be offered feedback and selected projects will be invited to submit a full application.
  • Stage 2:  The full application form will be emailed directly to the Principal Investigator along with instructions from the Consumer Lab Manager. Full applications will be reviewed by our Impact Account Panel.
  • Deadlines for the BIVs and Feasibility Awards:
    Expression of Interest: 11 March 2025, 9am
    Full applications: 28 April 2025, 9am
